HTML5: <Footer> element

This entry is part 12 of 34 in the series HTML5

HTML5 provides a footer element but I tried a few browsers and the content under footer is not placed at the bottom of the page but immediately after the block of content above the footer.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<head lang='en'>
    <meta charset='UTF-8'>
    <title> - HTML 5</title>
        section {
            clear: both;
            border: 2px solid #000;
            padding: 1%;
            width: 60%;
            <h1><a href='#'>Rod Stewart</a></h1>

        <p>Roderick David 'Rod' Stewart, CBE is a British rock singer-songwriter. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. Stewart is one of thebest-selling music artists of all time, having sold over 100 million records worldwide.</p>
